Saudi National Day 23 Sep

Since 2005, the late Saudi monarch, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud, declared September 23rd of every year, a national day for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The history of the Saudi national day starts in 1902 when king Abdulaziz al-Saud established a third Saudi state initially named the Sultanate of Najd and then expanded the state to become the Kingdom of Hejaz and Najd. Consequently and during the year 1932, Abdulaziz al-Saud unified the lands into one state hence the name Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

On the 23rd of September of every year, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates Saudi National Day which commemorates the renaming of the Kingdom of Najd and Hejaz to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as it was made a national holiday by King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud in 2005.

Saudi National Day is celebrated with folklore dances, songs and traditional festivals; the roads and buildings are decorated with Saudi flags all around the kingdom.
