AFU Organization Structure
The Board of Trustee is the governing body of the university and its policies. The Board consists of several members that represent distinguished professionals in various related fields, such as politics, industry and academics.
The Board of Trustees Responsibilities are:

Mr. Ahmad Said Brook Al Humairi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from UAE University, Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. At present, he is the Head of the Human Resources Department where his main duties lie in the finding the manpower with the essential skills, educational background and extensive experience as needed by the Ministry of Presidential Affairs, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. Apart from this, he is also responsible for the training and development of each staff. Hence, he organized trainings, seminars and workshops beneficial for every employee.
Mr. Al Humairi is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Al Ain University of Science and Technology and serves on the Board of Directors at Takaful Emarat.
H. E. Dr. Abdul Salam Al Madani is the Chairman of INDEX Holding, one of the leading national corporations in the region.
Under the leadership of H. E. Dr. Al Madani, INDEX Holding diversified and branched out to different sectors. His innovative ideas paved the way for INDEX Holding to be well known and respected in the textile and tailoring industry, trading and investment, events management and healthcare industry.
Presently, it has eight subsidiaries. The Abdul Salam Al Madani Textile Trading & Tailoring, INDEX Trading and Investment (ITI), INDEX Conferences and Exhibitions Organizations Est. (ICE), Bigdot, INDEX Healthcare and Management (IHCM), INDEX Medical Center (IMC), INDEX Shared Services (ISS) and INDEX Holding Korea.
Dr. Al Madani holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Healthcare Management from the United States of America. Given his involvement and vast experience in the healthcare industry, Dr. Al Madani is part of the Honorary Members Circle of the International Hospital Federation.
Mr. Mohammed Atatreh received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from UAE University located in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates in 2004. He also holds an MBA degree from Al Ain University of Science and Technology.
His proficiency in the Real Estate and Development sector is brought about by his experiences leading a property development company.
H. E. Mr. Mohammed AlHabbai received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Salem International University located in Salem, West Virginia, USA.
Mr. AlHabbai, with his notable educational background and business acumen has been the Chief Executive Officer of Dubailand since 2007. Before becoming CEO, he served as the Chief Officer Urban Planning and Infrastructure. Currently, his responsibilities include Investor Management, Destination Management and Infrastructure Development for the leisure and entertainment destination by Dubai Properties Group, a subsidiary of Dubai Holding.
He has also been a part of the travel and tourism industry, having been an Area Manager for the largest airline in the Middle East, Emirates Airline in Dubai, Azerbaijan, Qatar, Egypt and Switzerland for 15 years.
Dr. Noor Aldeen Atatreh earned his Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry from The University of Manchester, UK in 2007 and his Master of Science (MSc) in Drug Chemistry from Newcastle University in 2004.
Dr. Atatreh’s research interests concentrates on drug development and discovery of new drugs, computer aided drug design and cancer research. Being an experienced researcher, his papers were published in several peer reviewed journals. He has also attended and participated in several conferences here and abroad.
He holds memberships from distinguished organizations such as the Royal Society of Chemistry in the UK and the British Association of Cancer Research. He is also a member of the American Association of Cancer Research in the USA. Read more
